Salary
£38833 to £47722 per annum (pro-rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.


The role is to lead the Centre for Aerospace Manufacturing (CAM), hosted within the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Research Group at the University of Nottingham. The established centre requires an experienced, enthusiastic and ambitious manager to lead the centre and shape its future direction, building on its substantial industrial research portfolio.

 

The primary purpose of this role is to lead the strategic and operational management of the centre, supporting the Head of the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Research Group.

 

The individual will be expected to oversee the full centre portfolio and be responsible for the delivery of the current projects. Liaison with and management of a wide range of stakeholders, including academics, researchers, technical and industrial colleagues will form an important part of the role.

 

Candidates must be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience in:

  • Management and technical leadership of teams
  • Management and delivery of complex high value projects
  • Financial planning and management
  • Successful bid writing 
  • Aerospace manufacturing and assembly processes
  • Aircraft assembly equipment, tooling and fixturing 
  • Applications of process automation, metrology and robotics

 

Candidates must hold a MEng or equivalent in a relevant field. They should have excellent communication skills, able to demonstrate technical leadership whilst working as part of a team.

 

The role holder will be required to attend and present at regular project meetings at industrial and research partner sites both in the UK and EU. Experience of working within the UK and EU, in both industry and research is preferable.

 

This post is offered on a fixed term contract for a period of 2 years. Job share arrangements may be considered for this post.
